Why Strength May be More Important than Muscle for Longevity

In prior posts we’ve talked about how MORE muscle was generally linked to MORE Longevity. Being a critical tissue which not only keeps us structurally functional but one which is responsible for a lot of the KEY biochemical activity that keeps us young and efficient on the inside!

However, during this muscle love-fest, we assumed one KEY thing that should not be assumed when it comes to truly assessing its role in Longevity. The notion that MORE Muscle means More Strength. Which, despite popular belief, isn’t always the case…

In fact, gaining more muscle through a calorie surplus without incorporating a stimuli to better recruit those muscle fibers, may not do much at all for our Longevity ambitions.

Because although that extra muscle is there, the strength –which is a neurological phenomena that must be actively trained – is absent. And what is the BEST type of training?

Well, according to this new research that just hit the scientific streets, it’s the Resistance Type!
