The LONGEVITY POWER of Your Gut Microbiome | It’s More Complex Than You Think
If you’ve been anywhere near the internet over the last 10-years, especially looking at any health related topics, there’s a pretty high probability that you’ve heard the term “Good Bacteria”.
This of course refers to the communities of micro-organisms that have been identified in some scientific way to be associated with benefits to their hosts health. But here’s the thing…
As modern science continues to study and re-confirm many of these “Beneficial Associations”, it’s becoming quite clear that most of them are context dependent. Meaning it’s not just that specific bacteria driving the benefits, but it’s that bacteria when placed in the proper environment, nourished the right way, and surrounded by the right supporting cast, which produces the beneficial outcome. A tad more complex, I know.
A scenario we see play out first hand in new research on one of the darlings in the microbial world, Akkermansia Muciniphila. Suggesting that all “Good” bugs may not be good forever. That being said, this doesn’t mean our “Microbe Manipulation” ambitions should be flushed down the toilet. In fact, it may even mean the exact opposite.
