
If I walked up to you right now and said the words “Heart Attack”, I can almost guarantee that your first thought would have nothing to do with Gut Bacteria. Hell, I’d bet that there’s a good chance most people don’t even realize they have bacteria in their gut at all.
However, once again, these trillions of non-self organisms which call our intestinal tubing home, humble us. Because just like the surprising discoveries of their influence on our cognitive function, cravings, mitochondria, ability to build muscle, and propensity to get sick, these little guys ALSO have the ability to put our cardiovascular system on notice.
That is, if we neglect them. Because new research has displayed that when sub-optimal communities of these creepy crawlers are giving the green light to grow and prosper, even “healthy” foods may stimulate them to do “unhealthy” things. Like synthesize toxic compounds that sneak into the bloodstream and up-regulate the dysfunction which cause arterial plaques to form. Not cool, I know…
Good news is, there’s a fool proof strategy to mitigate this risk from the gecko. But, you may not love the execution of it… At least in the beginning…
