There is something truly special about the brain in childhood. It’s the time period of rapid plasticity and pruning of neurons. The developmental period where brain structure is formed and connectivity between these different regions are solidified and customized… 

Ultimately paving the way for the composition of our adult minds. Which would make anything that has a significant influence on this process, a KEY modulator of brain development, right?

Even if, it’s a bunch of non-self micro-organisms living in and on us by the trillions… And wouldn’t you know it, this seems to be the case that we ALL unknowingly lived through.

As emerging data over the past two decades has established that the bacteria which begins to colonizes our body from the second we exit the womb, has a non-stop and somewhat critical influence on ALL of our bodily systems, including the Brain. With a direct effect on the development of this 5lb mushy membrane just beginning to be uncovered.

And although we cannot travel back to alter the past, there’s certainly things we can do, here and now, to improve this ongoing interaction and reap the benefits today!
