Loneliness, Cognitive Function & Longevity | Why YOU NEED Social Connection

It’s true…. People are often annoying, time consuming, stressful, and not nearly as cool as dogs. But that doesn’t mean social isolation is the solution. At least, if you care about your cognitive longevity.

Because as much of a hassle dealing with other humans can sometimes be, communicating and socializing is deeply rooted in both our culture and biology. So much so that NOT doing it and socially isolating yourself instead, has not only been associated with an increase in mental health conditions, but cardiovascular disease and even risk of mortality.

All conditions which seem to be supercharged when this isolation is combine with older age, or the time we humans are most likely to have a dwindling social circle. A situation which this new study out of the University of Geneva has shed some new light on, specifically highlighting what you need to avoid to preserve your cognitive self into your golden years.
