How Stress Eating Changes Our Brains | And How to Overcome it

If you’re like me, or a member of the human species, there’s just something hypnotizing about a sweet savory treat when your stressed.

Hypnotizing in a way which not only makes you crave it, but continue to shovel it down your pie-hole without any sensation of being full or satisfied. In fact, the most pertinent problem in the midst of one of these emotional meltdowns, typically is, NOT having enough. Driving you to look for the next indulgence, that is, until it all hits you like a sack of metabolically stressing bricks.

Well, as oddly familiar as this scenario sounds, I’m here to tell you, it turns out, this response is NOT our faults…. at least kinda…

It’s Stresses Fault! Because it’s CLEAR we have more self control and make more health conscious choices in its absence. Almost as if our brain’s neuronal networks fire differently when they sense it, promoting the cravings and non-stop eating of energy-dense nutrient-scarce comfort foods until we either run out, or enter a food coma.

Well, turns out this figurative hypnosis is not to far from the literal truth. And just another reason why we want to pro-actively manage our Stress…
