
What if the reason no diet cult following can ever truly win on the internet battleground is…. They’re all potentially right! (at least a few of them)…
Because long before “diets” as a concept were even a thing, our ancestors were doing alittle bit of all of them. Eating plant based, eating carnivore, and not eating at all. This wasn’t because they were actively modulating their regimen to promote health and longevity either, but instead because they were interested in survival, and adapting to their environment was how that happened.
Thus the human body has evolved to be quite flexible when it comes to eating, being able to drive cellular efficiency under many different dietary regimes, that is, except the 24/7 energy dense, additive riddled, ultra processed and palatable “foods” one. Which ironically happens to be the fan favorite for us modern humans.
That being said, the evidence continues to build (for the people who want to eat for health) around the fact that mixing and matching a few of these “diet” may actually be the optimal strategy for living long and finishing strong.
In fact, in the case of protein, fiber and fasting, the data suggests that the only way you may be able to maximize the benefits of each individual one, is by doing them together. Who woulda thunk!
